Ku De Ta
Located next to the Oberoi, this beachfront location features modern architecture and interior design. Lounge in a deck chair on the beach and enjoy a cocktail while watching the sun go down. Main meals are priced around IDR60,OOO. Choose from a mix of international cuisines, such as Sydney Rock Oysters, mixed sushi, chilli-salted squid, grilled freshwater prawns and Asian spiced duck. Wines start at IDR200,000 per bottle. After dinner, you can enjoy a cigar in the air-conditioned cigar lounge. These cost from IDR60,00 for Bolivar Coronas or IDR120,000 for Romeo Yulietta Exhibition No.4. Average price per person: IDR150,000
I can not say that something actually impressed me about this restaurant. Definitely have been to better places around Europe and Asia with much more interesting food and more reasonable prices. The food was tasty but nothing too special(rather small portions). On the other hand the wine was perfect but I cant remember which one we picked. The staff was excellent trainned.
Regarding the whole atmosphere, I guess I liked the interior and I assume it is better to go for a drink rather than eat. (yet, I can not comment the bar as I only went there for dinner).
like the food, loves the place.. we can hang out outside the restaurant by drinking our fav drink enjoy the voice of the beach n really romantic place with nice candles everywhere , especially with someone we love beside us.. very nice n great
Ku De Ta is a place where the beautiful people come to dine. I had heard it was good and decided to check it out. Overall, I was disappointed. Here's why:
1. Ambiance: What better way to start an evening than to be greeted by men with automatic weapons. I understand that security is a concern but it's a restaurant not a bank! The interior is modern, it's black, and it feels sterile. The DJ was pumping out loud music that was more geared for a disco than a meal. Having a conversation with a friends was difficult.
2. Service: I think I had 4 or 5 servers at one point. For the price I was paying for a meal, I expected better.
3. Value: Ku De Ta is expensive. But I knew that in advance and expected it.
4. Food: The food and presentation were very good. The meal was excellent. No complaints here.
Overall, dining here is like eating in a discotheque. It's not a place where you can kick back and linger over a meal with friends.
The security was very tight! They even checked my Mom's purse at the gate aside from the usual glove compartment, trunk and car engine. It was as if we were entering a bank instead of just a restaurant.
The place has a really chill out ambiance. The drinks were pricey but the desserts were really good.
The beach at night is very nice compared to the one at Jimbaran Bay where we had dinner. The comfort room was airconditioned and everything is in black.
They said that there is a crematorium beside the place which gave us the creeps.
Our guide said that this place used to be packed and reservations is a must. But now, since the Bali Bombings 2002 & 2005 tourists are down and no reservations required.
It was the most fantabulous experience i ever had in my life. THe food totally excelent though a bit expensive. it's worth it.
I went to Ku De Ta for thousands times, i was meeting 5 hollywood artists whom i believed noone will recognize them. Leonardo Di Caprio, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Simpson, Enrique Iglesias and Brad Pitt.
I was so lucky to meet them and able to take pictures
KU De Ta...can't wait to go Back
Excellent service, The best music, great food, fantastic location. etc. etc.
Try eating Beluga with a bottle of Cristal, when you have the best music & the best view you can immagine. Nothing can compare.
The food was tasteless, except the giant-but-cheap ice cream cone. The service was ok. The only thing that helped this place to survive was the ambience. However there are lots of other great places to enjoy sunset, so I still wouldn't recommend this place.
We had dinner at Ku De Ta during September 2006. We read a number of reviews of the hotel we stayed at in Bali (the Oberoi next door) that recommended Ku De Ta as a better alternative to the hotel restaurant. We were very disappointed. The drinks were indeed much cheaper than the Oberoi but the food was about the same price for smaller portions and lower quality.
The service was one of the worst I've ever received! It took nearly a hour for our order to be taken and first drinks to arrive - after asking where they were about 4 times. We were being served our starter as the table next to us was paying the bill (and they arrived 15 mins after we did!)
The manager seemed very concerned that our evening was being disrupted by a very large and loud party (30+) next to our table. They were noisy but it was the service we had a problem with (well that and people changing baby's nappies next to our table!! The manger did aske them not to do that again). When I complained to the manger about the service we got a shrug and "oh sorry" before he walked off. No attempt to find out why or offer a proper apology. It still took over 20 mins to get the bill and pay after complaining.
We left hungry due to the small portions, annoyed with the VERY bad service and felt ripped off at the prices. Would not recommend this to anyone looking for a good meal. I'm sure its fine for anyone wanting drinks in a trendy bar (although compared to other places near by they are still over priced).
My sister-in-law got married here and also had the reception here. The food was beautiful, the service was fantastic and the view was perfect. It was one of the best weddings I've ever been to. If I return to Bali this restaurant will be on he list to visit.
