Shanghai Grand Theater Gallery

Description

Formerly only showing the works of Shanghai's popular modern artist, Ting Shao Kuang, the Gallery now showcases a wider range of artists. It is a branch of the AA Gallery , which has established a solid reputation locally (main branch is at the Shanghai Centre). The Gallery aims at popular mainstream tastes rather than the avant-garde. Exhibitions change frequently. Located next to the Shanghai Grand Theatre and near the Shanghai Art Museum , it also sells original paintings and reprints of Chinese artists as well as foreign ones.

Nice downtown art area

I walked into the gallery by chance. Surprised to see artwork in very good presentation. Pleasant staff. Nice artwork, too. Highly recommend it if you are in downtown area. Close to Shanghai art museum.

a pleasant surprise

I just walked in the area and saw this gallery. I was surprised at its presentation. The staff was very friendly and we talked about the art work and art market in China. She was knowledgeable about oil paintings by Chinese masters. I bought a few artbooks. Highly recommended for visitors. It should be on our tour map.

worthy visiting

Happened to be in downtown and saw this gallery. Nice artwork. Mostly oil paintings by Chinese artists. Some Western sculptures. Pleasant atmosphere. The staff speak English and very friendly. Highly recommended. Good for an afternoon visit. Surprised to see a wide range of fine art in China.

The gallery is located in downtown next to the city's art museum. Nice display and presentation. A collection of renowned oil painters in modern China. Service is good as there are English speaking and knowledgeable staff there.

a great place to visit Shanghai fine art

IT is the best gallery to know about local artists in Shanghai. Excellent display and presentation. Most art work is in realistic styles. The staff is nice and professional. Good for tourists to downtown area.
