Shanghai Links Golf & Country Club, Shanghai

I lived in Shanghai for 4 years and was a member of Shanghai Links. As far as a golf experience, this course rates in my top 5. Fantastic layout, excellent greens and fairways, and a challenging but fair test of golf. Since being taken over by Pudong Development Group, numerous upgrades to the course have been undertaken and it has only gotten better. The new clubhouse is quirky at best ... but you don't golf in the clubhouse and the real after golf dining and entertainment experience is in downtown Shanghai anyways. I have golfed all over China, Southern Asia, U.S., and Canada and can tell you that this is still one of the best golf courses I have played. If you are in Shanghai and love golf, this is a top notch experience. DO NOT let the drive down Ling Bai Lu fool you (that is an experience in itself) ... at the end of that gauntlet is a fantastic golf course you will not forget.

The golf course is fantastic. The greens are always fast and true, the fairways are like greens on most courses. The new clubhouse that just opened in Oct 2008 is terrible. It is designed more like a hotel than a gym. Since it is now owned by the local government bureau, they needed a hotel for their parties. They just raised the green fees too, an un-accompanied guest fee is now $200.

I thought it was exelent .The fairways were in great shape as were the greens. The only thing was the heat in July of 2004
