Old China Hand Reading Room
Description
Opened in 1996 by a Shanghai-based photographer, the charmingly literary Old China Hand Reading Room is a throwback to more cultured times in Shanghai. Located in the old French Concession area, this cafe/reading room resembles a rarefied library, adorned with Chinese and Western books, paintings and Chinese antiques. Customers are free to peruse the books on the comfortable sofas and chairs. Old China Hand also schedules monthly exhibits of art and photography, and musical performances. The usual supply of coffee and tea are available to keep customers refreshed. There is a small menu with cakes and other snacks.
