Description

This large bar is popular with the upwardly mobile expatriate and local set, and is generally busy all the time. Many people come here for Paulaner's excellent live band, not to mention the authentic German sauerkraut and sausage. Oktoberfest picnic tables on the main floor provide an authentic, if sturdy, feel. (The booths upstairs are more comfortable). Fruhschoppen brunch is great value, served every Sunday. The beers made on location and stored in copper tanks are worth a try, as well as the canned Weissbier.

The band and atmosphere

A very nice place to go for a beer and / or a simple diner, I come there about 5-6 times every year. There is a filipino band playing from Monday till Satrurday On sundays they are of duty. You won't be troubled by chinese prostitutes here, a nice plus in compare with many other places for visitors. Not cheap but value for money. If you are there just say hello to Daisy, May, Moises and JJ (the bue heaven band) from Gerard...

It is too far from the heart of Shanghai, and it takes about 15mins by cab.Beer is great,the service personnel has problems to understand english.But they are very friendly. Go see the Paulaner in Pudong!!!

An American German

I visit the Paulaner 4-5 times per year. They treat me as an Old Friend during every visit. The two Bands are outstanding. If you don't have fun here, you won't have a good time anywhere. This is the Best Meeting Place in Shanghai for picking up single girls.

Love it, Greeat Music, great people, great beer

Hi everybody, I stayed with you last Wednesday night, it was great!!!! Can you help me on something special? I met a girl from Poland, we danced Twist together, don´t know nothing about her, but want to meet her again back in Europe Blond, about 1,70m tall, deep blue eyes, wonderful smile! There was always (2001)excitement in Paulaner, always good people, music, many beautiful and nice girls, very good food and hope to survive that particuliar night.

Drink the beer, just don't breathe the air!

Tasty beer, pleasant lively ambience, but loses a star for the toxic atmosphere - does everyone in China smoke? To be fair, my visit was a few years ago - hopefully they've improved the ventilation since then. I didn't try the food, so can't report on it.
