Da Marco, Shanghai

Yes it is not located in the best part of Shanghai... But it is until now the only place to really feel like in Italy when it comes to restaurant style, quality of Pizza, size of the dishes.

I was a little confused about the location as i wasn't aware it was inside of a hotel/apt complex. Since I'm a forigner and don't speak the language it was a little tricky finding it. The lasagna was good but not great as the meat inside was a little raw for my tastes and I'm not too crazy about any meat I have eaten in china thus far. The service was friendly and the menu was pretty extensive. The bread was out of this world and I wish I would have been able to buy more of this exceptional bread! I had apple strudel for dessert and i was not to happy with it since the outside was warm and the inside cold and they had a bunch of other stuff inside that weren't apples (so for my picky taste I would have preferred warm strudel with just apples) or even cold with just apples but not half n half. The price was only 103 rmb for lasagna, a coke and a slice of apple strudel.

I enjoyed eating at Da Marcos. It is a familiar taste after the myriad rice based meals I've eaten. It costs about the same as a meal would in the States - perhaps a bit more.

Not a great location, tucked away at the back of a residential development but made up for by the food which normally excels. Had the worst food poisoning of my life after spagetti carbonara once though so maybe stay away from that one - probably from the egg so hard to blame the restaurant for that.
