Rated as among the best Thai restaurants in Shanghai, the deservedly popular Simply Thai boasts moderate prices, stylish ambience and terrific food. The menu features various curries and other traditional favorites, all reasonably priced (most dishes are under CNY20). Recommended are the affordable lunch specials. Wonderfully decorated in charming Thai style, this intimate and cozy restaurant exudes a faint smell of incense. Beloved among its loyal clientele are the outdoor courtyard (for alfresco dining on warm nights) and the late-night drink specials. Service is English-friendly and professional.
Contemporary setting, yes. Quality as gone way down since expanding. I used to love dining here 5 years ago and now I prefer other thai restaurants. I think the food is overpriced. On the other hand they make great cocktails. I recommend ST's mojito...lots of mint.
Excellent value wines and food to die for,.....ok i like Thai food anyway, but even the crackers and satay sauce was incredible and that was about £1. The green curry excellent, spicey and tastes of peanut.....yum.
The staff were incrediblt friendly and charming....efficient also.....in a nice part of town....
if you are in Shanghai for a couple of days- make this one of your restaurants to visit.
they have a nice , small outdoor area also.....so smokers of the world- get out there!
I spent three hours trekking around the city in the rain and finally found this place. I devoured an entire plate of spring rolls, a delicious curry chicken dish, and an icy cold Diet Coke and I swear, I've never been so happy. The staff was so nice to me, even though I was soaking wet and in casual clothes when I walked in. The price was reasonable. It was one of the best meals I had in Shanghai. I loved the simple, bright colors inside the restaurant. Definitely try this one if you're in the neighborhood.
The food is great. Been twice and have not had a bad dish. Watch out for the starters. They usually are big enough for two people. Only downside was that if you go late, they end up asking you to pay bill before you have even eaten your meal. Nevertheless, the waiter staff are friendly.
