Tiananmen Square
Description
Tiananmen Square is the largest public square in the world and is considered a historic symbol of the People's Republic of China. The square is surrounded by a cluster of massive buildings including Tiananmen Gate, The Forbidden City, the Great Hall of the People, The Monument of the People's Heroes and the Mao Ze Dong Mausoleum. Tiananmen Square brings to town thousands of visitors every year from throughout China and all over due to its political and historical significance. Popular celebrations at the Square include the Independence Day meet.
Tiananmen is an enormous concrete open space and itis hard to see it as a tourist attraction at times but you need to have the history of th Square firmly in your head and you realise that today's Square is a part of it's past. Now though it is peaceful and carefree on the surface but EXTREMELY hot on a summers day, no shade and little breeze. Wear a Hat.
But, see the Great Wall First. Here, you will attract vendors and "art students". It is a lot of walking but it is so historic that you have to go. So go and get it over with.
