Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant, Beijing

Not only will you get a taste of the traditional Peking duck, but the service and the overall experience will leave you wanting to come back for more.

We were directed to the "Foreigner's" section while the price is much higher for the same food. Request for general seating is denied as "lack of space". At 5:30 in the afternoon ? Give me a break. Food was run-of-the-mill, far from good, service was awful, lots of people but nobody speak good English, food came in wrong order and the duck was overcooked. Do not go there, we went to another Peking Duck place (called the Duck King), recommended by the local people and it was excellent.

the duck will ruin you. nowhere else does it get this delicious. (Ilso the staff is very accomodating. you get your duck carved at your table and served in seperate dishes- legs- breasts- so on. Go early or wait in a crowded entry for a table. They start serving at 5pm and at 5:15 are full. They also have private dining rooms and another smaller dining room besides the main room. I love it and always go when in beijing.

I absolutely loved the roast duck. It was exquisit and most pobably the best duck i have ever had in my whole life.I also loved the strawberry icecream which i compliment the chef Kan-tow for. When i return to Beijing one day i will certainly return to the restaurant and get some more roast duck. I loved the exterior and lively feeling of the place. Most of all i loved the atmosphere which these people live in and the environment around the restaurant. Even though i am only 14 years old i can safely say this is the ebst restaurant i have ever been to. And for my first visit to Beijing it has left me with a positive view to return. The roast duck was the best part of my holiday in Beijing. Once i had the duck. I didnt eat anything else because all i could think about was the duck. So.. I am looking foward to returing to Beijing and eating another ROAST DUCK ! and some strawberry icecream. I will most certianly be back to eat some more Roast Duck. Good Bye !

In my experience (at the Wangfujing branch), I can readily get better Beijing duck in the States. Ask your hotel concierge for a better recommendation!!!

I have been to the finer roast duck restaurants in Beijing, Tianjin, Xi'an and Shanghai - and this is my favorite. The service is absolutely splendid. You can find roast duck restaurants with food AS good for a lot less, but this is a nicer overall experience than most other places.

It may have been around for many years, however the duck was cold and almost tasteless. If it is Beijings signature dish there must be better places than this one.

If you like the best experience in traditional Chinese dining do go to QuenJuDe. But if you are looking for the best Peking Duck, it is not found in QuenJuDe. The retaurant charges 5 times as much as the average price on a peking duck, and all of it's other dishes are at least 3 times more expensive. If money is the least of your worries, the taste of the duck isn't the best also. QuenJeDe's duck is way too greasy in comparison to other restuarants. Just remember, QuenJuDe is not the only place in Beijing for Peking Duck. It is best place for the ambiance experience, but not the best place for the food itself

I tried the Quanjude roast duck at both the Qianmen and Wangfujing location. Wangfujing has more ambiance,a table cloth,nice china, but charges a 10% service charge. Qianmen does not charge a 10% but you are eating off of paperplates. This difference is due to the location of the neighborhood. Food is wonderful at both places. We learned from our 1st visit that one set menu for 1/2 a duck (duck, pancake, and soup) is sufficient for 2 people. You can use the extra $ to purchase vegetables and side orders. The Wangfujing is more centrally located so I recommend that one. Enjoy
