Nouveau Pho de Paris
Nouveau Pho offers a number of features which together make it a rarity among Phnom Penh's budget restaurants -fresh tasty food, hygienic presentation, air-conditioning, and pleasant English-speaking staff. The menu displays photos of all the many Vietnamese and Chinese dishes on offer. The house specialty is pho, a Vietnamese rice noodle soup. Here it is cooked with beef stock and served with herbs, bean sprouts and finely sliced lean beef. A small dessert of coconut jelly and palm sugar wrapped in banana leaf comes for no extra charge. Drinks available include local and imported beers, soft drinks, and tea.
I've bee going here for 10 years - never disappointed -- I order Soursop Shake - always thick and delish (they call it Teep Barang) -- and fresh shrimp rolls (under $3) -- also delish --- they've got one of these big big classic menus with pictures of each dish -- lots to choose from, everything I've tried has been tasty -- not greasy or oily -- everything fresh and nicely prepared -- not a fancy place, no special atmosphere, just a comfortable place for good reasonably priced food -- Khmer, Vietnamese, Chinese, and you can get a Western salad too. Most dishes are $3 to $6 unless you order the seafood which is at current market prices. People are always friendly and attentive. There's a TV on which I don't like, but you can sit in the side room to get away from it -- I asked them to put it on a soft music channel & they obliged.
