Gold Reef City

Description

Built around the No. 14 shaft of Crown Mines, this city is an authentic reproduction of Johannesburg at the beginning of the 1900s. There are fully furnished miner's houses with original furniture and fittings, including pressed ceilings. The museum exhibits include antique clothing and children's toys, which take the visitor back 100 years to the city that was. A train encircles the park and many shops offer interesting curios. You can also visit the original gold mine in a lift that goes down to 220 meters below the surface. An on site casino is open 24 hours daily.

i did not dislike anything at all, i loved everything about it... i'm dying to go there again... how great is it? my father even went on the anaconda! thats how great it is... it is so big you can lose yor friends there.. my favourite was obviously the anaconda! it was FaBuLoUs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ha ha ha... i mean it though!

Incorect info

It would have help if they put on the website that they were not only close on a Monday but also on a Tuesdays then we would not have travel 88km only to find out that they are close on Tuesdays. This was quite a disappiontment for 2 kids looking forward for weeks to a special treat.

Enjoyed the mine tour!!!

We traveled from California and were very impressed by the gold mine tour. Going down into the mine was scary but the tour guide made the trip worth while. My wife and I would go back tomorrow if we could. Seeing how the gold was refined was also very entertaining.

The best

Didnt like the way that most the rides were not working when i got there, because i was bragging about all these rides to friends and got them all excited for nothing, but we will deffinitly go back to try it out again sometime soon. Love the place, its just a place to really relax and be all amazed at the same time.. Love the 4D theatre!!! Keep it up people its really a life time experience.

I'm mad about the place

there is absolutely nothing to dislike about the place,i've been there twice and i'm going again on 1/09/2007. Can't wait for the adrenalin rush again. This is trhe must go place for all the young at heart!!!

it was awesome! we'd go there and go on rollercoaster rides till we were sick or we had to go home there are all sorts of restuarants sweet shops ice cream parlours anything you want!

Its brill!!Never spent so much time screaming and having fun at the same time!!!I visit sa once a year and I go to gold reef every trip!!I love the place and I am a wimp when it comes to the rides!!!

great day for whole family

my kids loved the park the 4d theatre was excellent highly reccommended for all ages. kids rides where excellent. good value for money. have to spend all day though to get your money's worth. some of the big rides weren't open at time of my visit, so be warned. great family day out.

been there 3 times and slept 8 times!!!so you gotta go people..miners revenge is the best rideoh and make sure you get the GoldReef City t-shirt.cause you can'nt get it anywhere else beside GoldReef City..dont miss the shows.woooohhh they awsome!!get onto yhe train to checkout the place,stay at the hotels,they got good a ccomodation,if you love peopl then go for it,you'll have the time of your life..if you in for a screy dare..i dare you to go onto the anaconda ride..i did.you dont wana know so go check it out your self.GO IN JANUARY WHERE EVERYTHING IS SO BUSY AND CRAZY.WHERE YOU CAN MEET LOADZA NEW PEOPLE from all over the world.

i liked everything!!!!!!!!!!the rides,the people..oh my!the best ride was Miners Revenge AND the anaconda was a huge dare to me..but hey you darey people,why dont you go check it out and see how strong you are..i kiked the shows and the dancing..the hip hop ..one you had,WOW tha was a FANTU BA LAS SHOW..
