Swish, sophisticated and superlative, Villa Bianca goes a long way to successfully bring the feeling of a bistro in Italia to Johannesburg. Face brick walls and pillars along with charming railings and ornate light fittings give the restaurant authentic character. The menu reflects a sophisticated choice in Italian cuisine, for example, Lamb al Forno - slow cooked in a wood burning oven and simmered luxuriously in white wine, rosemary and origanum, and Al Vitello - fettucine with strips of veal sauteed in olive oil and garlic and flambeed in white wine.
This was always my favourite restuarant - we booked weeks ago as were told booking was essential. It is my son's birthday on Valentines day. We booked for eight o'clock - when we arrived the cue was out the door...not a manager insight...just waiters running like headless chickens. very dissappointed - waited an hour to get a dirty table - no cultery, bare table - had to ask for salt, serviettes..really put a damper on my sons birthday- not longer my number one restuarant
