Set in a Georgian house in an up-market area, Le Canard offers excellent traditional French cooking in formal, opulent surroundings. The eatery still sits like a slightly pompous old lady off Rivonia road in Sandton, but visitors from around the world take pleasure in the professional approach to the dining experience. Look forward to delicious sauces as they were meant to be—and the duck is still sublime. Other great dishes on offer are Lobster bisque, frogs legs in Pernod and beef fillet medallions. An excellent wine list includes some rare vintages.

Very special place!!

Truly amazing!!! the three colour soup shouts out vibrance and hearty flavours!!! The duck there is a MUST with all its lovely different choices of sauces- the chocolate with chilli is quite interesting and the classic citrus was fab. The rack of lamb that my friend odered was also mouthwatering!! All deserts will seduce you with its decadent flavours- the fruit flambe was delicious and entertaining!! It has something for everyone. Made my birthday the best ever!!

Fantastic. Try the 3 colour soup. The duck and beef are fab. My prawn loving freinds loved the "shooters". The special dessert of flambe fruit and custard with butterscotch is a lasting memory

Chat, is the perfect host and maintains high standards witnessed on many return visits here. Always made to feel special and treated to the most perfect hospitality with discretion and attention to detail that very few restaurants, throughout the world manage to achieve. I have never hesitated in recommending this wonderful African Gem, to both close friends and business associates. I will just remain envious until I can enjoy Chats company and the wonderful creations by the best chefs in the business at Le Canard again! Mitchelin star standard.

Five stars in Jo-burg

If you are staying in Jo-burg chances are you are staying in Sandton which is where Le Canard is located. Everything about this restaurant is just perfect - from the ambience to the food to the service. My only disappointment was that Nelson Mandela was there the day before I dined there. The maitre d' (Chet) was observant of every detail of the restaurant and has a personality to match his professionalism. Don't miss this one.
