KWV, Drakenstein

The KWV (Kooperatiewe Wijnbouwers Vereeniging) cellar complex in Paarl covers an area of 22 hectares, the largest co-operative cellar in the world. The firm's brandy cellar in Worcester is the largest of its kind in the world, with 120 copper pot stills under one roof. A team of twelve tour guides present tours in English, Afrikaans, German, French and Scandinavian languages. Educational tours for school groups, technical tours for wine specialists, and tours in other languages can be arranged by prior reservation. KWV is capable of handling large groups and informal wine tastings for up to 250 visitors on reservation. During the December holidays, walk-in tourists can enjoy a video show and wine tasting, separate from the cellar tour.
