Incredible work at the Drakenstein

Myself and my boyfriend visited and stayed overnight at the Lion Park earlier this month.
This is a true sanctuary for Lions.
I have followed these lions on line for a few years now and it was great to see them looking healthy, happy and clean.
I know and have seen how bad these lions look when they arrive from the awful conditions such as French and Romanian circuses. Paul, Elsett and the team at the Drakenstein devote their lives to giving these lions dignity and a much better life.
I can really recommend anyone visiting and staying overnight especially, waking up to 35 roaring lions around you is something incredible. Although it seems they are sitting outside your tent, you are perfectly safe. Having a coffee outside your tent in the morning, with a Lion sitting at the bottom of your garden is something you do not experience every day. The park has no frills and that is because all the money raised goes to the animals welfare, the way it should be. No money making scams and lies about being a sanctuary and then selling the lions to the Canned hunt industry like some sanctuaries in South Africa. If you are a true Lion lover, then this is the place to go, you will not be able to pet them, but then parks that allow that usually are taking these lions away from their mothers at a very early age to be groomed for the Canned Hunt Industry.
I would urge people to visit, donate and help these people carry on their good work here.
