Awesome beach ride at Sleepy Hollow!!
By Trish, 6/7/12
Amazing fantastic ride!! There's not much better than cantering along the beach, wind blowing through your hair on well trained horses with magnificent views of the sea and mountains! I thoroughly enjoyed the ride on Noordhoek beach! It really was great & I would recommend it to anyone! I am an experienced rider and I really enjoyed trotting & cantering along the beach. The guide stays with the novice riders, while the experienced ones get to trot & canter- everyone gets to go at a pace they feel comfortable & are able to! (This was really great as some other places keep the ride at a walk if there are beginners and then even if you are experienced, you don't get to trot or canter and I'm sure the beginners don't want to go cantering off down the beach half falling off! So Sleepy Hollow really tried to make the ride safe & enjoyable for everyone!) The horses are so good & very well trained! We were able to enjoy a nice canter side by side (without the horses trying to race & gallop off uncontrolled down the beach) & they are so responsive- they stop when u ask & listen to your aids & seemed to really enjoy the ride as much as we did! All in all a wonderful experience!!! I will definitely go again & highly recommend it, whatever your riding experience

Absolutely magnificent!
By olivia, 5/31/12
My whole experience at Sleepy Hollow has been amazing! I have been there a few times now and I’ve found the horses to be very intelligent and responsive and just divine to ride. The staff are also very friendly :) Of course the weather is very unpredictable, raining on moment just to make way for a perfect day of sunshine the next, or the other way around, but as far as I know the clients are always kept up to date about the weather and given the choice to ride or not when then weather is looking bad. Overall, I think that riding at Sleepy Hollow is an absolutely amazing experience!! I would do it everyday if I could :D

awful. avoid. don't go!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/1/11
the owner misrepresented the ride...it is a "walk" with horses being lead tail-to-nose on the beach. we are experienced riders and found that the horse were so lame that they couldn't break ranks. I specifically asked the owner to avoid such an experience. Plainly, she lied. Save your money and just walk the beach; leave the horses at the stables

miserable

Misrepresented by the owner as a "real" horse ride. Nothing more than being lead "in line". The horses are unresponsive and the experience a bore. My kids were pretty upset as was my wife-- all experienced riders. I suggest avoiding...or just give the money to the owner and walk on the beach, without the horses

TERRIBLE. AVOID.
By Billy Pilgrim, 7/29/11
The owner misrepresented the experience. The horses were lame, the ride boring...just plodding along. If you are totally inexperienced with horses or have some disability, then it may be something to think about. Otherwise, save your money and just take a wonderful walk along the beach and leave the horses at the stable. A RIP OFF!

sleepy hollow riding
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/2/10
great place to ride on Noordhoek beach but be aware!I have been 4 times with various guests and each time someone has fallen from their mount. If you haven't learned to control a horse at a canter in an open space please tell the guide.
