African Music Store (The), Cape Town

African music store rocks !!!! The staff - Khaya in particular has got the best skills in customer service. Everytime I visit the store, he makes me walk out with something, your music is the best....thumbs up to you guys!!

I am visiting Cape Town and wanted to buy my husband a gift. He is a jazz fan and I was hoping to find some original jazz from South Africa. After I read the reviews here I decided this was the place to try. The young man who was working on Saturday (sorry I don't recall his name) could not have been more attentive and helpul. He listened carefully to my request, thought about it and let me listen to South African artists. They were great! I'm sure my husband will be very pleased. I know enough about jazz to l know these were excellent recordings. Thanks for the reviews and that you African Music Store. I recommend a trip to this store. It felt like this was a genuine Cape Town experience - not a waterfront touristy one!

everytime I visit cape town, I always make sure that I go in there, they play african beat, two guys that work there (Khaya & Letu) are always friendly,willing to helpand would walk you around the store until you get what you want, they make sure that you walk out with something in your hand.!!!!!

I hit this store twice in my visit last week to Cape Town including the morning I was leaving. I am STILL kicking myself for leaving behind that last song I heard them playing as we were leaving the store. A MUST visit on Long Street.

This store deserves a recommendation letter to Lonely Planet - if it is not yet cited there! Friendly and helpful staff, great music, and also the in-house 'One World Travel Centre' is very good (I booked a Township Tour which was highly interesting). Go for it!
