Blues Restaurant, Cape Town

The biggest disappointment of our recent visit to Cape Town (Dec 04). We first visited Blues in December 2001 and were knocked out by everything about the place, the view, the food, the service and the atmosphere. Also visited again Feb 04 and it was still very good, albeit not up to the previous standards. Booked for Xmas Eve this year (2004) and Jan 3rd 2005. Xmas Eve experience only very average, atmosphere gone, menu changed and not very exciting. Our experience on Jan 3rd was a total disaster, two of the party were TWICE served with fillet steaks that were so tough as to be inedible (the menu used to boast that all Blues steaks were hung for at least 28 days but not any more). Another fish dish was served cold, two rump steaks were OK but contained large amounts of fat and the vegetables were covered in so much pepper that they also were inedible. The service was poor and our complaints were handled in a poor manner.
