Military Museum

Description

With more space devoted to ceremonial equipment and costumes than the brutal realities of war, pacifists should not be deterred by the name of this museum. Scale models and life-size simulations depict several of Egypt's key battles, and visitors can actually step into the scene in which Egyptian soldiers cleverly blasted the "impregnable" sand Bar-Lev line with water cannons.

It was OK.

Unless you are into Military history, I would spend your time doing other things in Cairo. Now, at the Citadel, there is two Mosques which are a must see and a spectacular view of Cairo. The restaurant on location has good food at low prices.

A real disapointment
Place is a beautiful setting however there was very little Egyptian military history - there was however a lot of British!! The museum artifacts were scarce and most things relating to Egyptian history were in picture/painting form. It was very funny to see old UK Fire Engines in such an ancient setting! My husband - who is Egyptian, was even disinterested. Not a place I'd want to visit again but glad I saw it
