Mastaba of Ti
This tomb, discovered by Mariette in 1865, is an important source of knowledge about the Old Kingdom. Ti was an important court dignitary, being one of the Chief of the Pharaoh's hairdressers and responsible for the adornment of the Royal Head! There is a statue of Ti, but it is only a replica; the original can be seen in the museum of Cairo.
The reliefs are immaculately preserved and detailed. A donkey being controlled via an ear twitch, a battle between a crocodile and a hippo, and many everyday scenes are protrayed. We were so awed we decided not to visit another mastaba, so that we could keep the memory intact and isolated.
