Teleferico (El)

Description

Although thousands of tourists go up the Cerro El Avila every day, you may only want to reach its summit, or the coast on the other side of the mountain. In that case, Caracas has two cable car routes to offer you: Mariperez-El Avila and Mariperez-Macuto. The first has always been the most popular, taking you to El Avila's ice rink, the disco and the luxurious Hotel Humboldt, overlooking the Caracas valley on one side and the Caribbean on the other from a height of 2153 meters. The cars leave every 15 or 30 minutes, according to the number of passengers.

A MUST!
By ,
Excellent cable cars take you on a beautiful ride up to the top. The views are spectacular, the temperatures range from cool to chilly! At the top, hire a jeep(inexpensive) to take you to the village of Gallipan. There you will find a great little restaurant serving delicious food (Fondues, Steaks). The view from the restaurant is beyond words!

I walk to the top and went down on the teleferico!

I have no problems at all saying the the avila mountain is one of the greatest places on earth... Let my tell you which is the best way to enjoy it: Get to the "Avila Magica Park" walking (it takes about 7 hours) and you will enjoy the best views in the workd. Then (to protect your knees!) take the teleferico, by far one of the best in the world... You even might get scared in your way down, since the "car" is almost transparent.

this experience has been the best!
By ,
I am venezuelan, but I dont live there. I had many years without visiting. When I went to visit my family took me there. It was wonderful! The view was impressing and beautiful. The ride was amazing, you could see the lights of the city if it was night and if it was daylight you could see the city and its arquitecture. While going up you could hear the animals and smell nature. It was a great visit! One of the most wonderful things I've seen in my life

Best Day in Caracas
By ,
The teleferico is one of newest and safest cable cars in world, built and operated by an Austrian company. The view during the assent and desent is amazing. At the top is ice skating an other attractions. The paved walkway along the mountain ridge is lined with beautiful flowers and populated with colorful tropical birds. A short 4X4 ride down to Galipan provides shopping for fresh fruits, local delicacies and horseback riding. It is cold and windy at 7,000 feet above sea level. Be sure to check the weather before you go. On a clear day you can see forever, but somedays the peak is in the clouds the entire day.

a must when visiting caracas.
By ,
Having visited Venezuela at least on 12 different occasions, i would say that an absolute must while in Caracas is to visit El Teleferico. The ride up to El Avila (the +6000ft mountain peak) gives an spectacular view of Caracas, and presents a great afternoon in the mountains which surround the valley of Caracas. There are a 2-3 good restaurants at the top, a skating rink and small tables with local arts/crafts. On clear days, you can see the Caribbean ocean. however it does get a bit cold, so a jacket/sweater is advised.
