Description
Originally called Independence Promenade and ordered to be built by President Guzmán Blanco, it is the oldest park in Caracas. From its vantage point, one may observe parts of the city where traces of its "red roofs" (colonial red tile roofs) still remain. This is a very pleasant walk and includes the possibility of visiting the Cajigal Observatory and the Ornithological Museum. Outstanding monuments include the Arch of the Federation, the Lourdes Chapel and the statue of Christopher Columbus.
