La Plaza Bolívar
In every Venezuelan city and town, the main square is named after Simon Bolivar. Caracas' Plaza Bolivar is not only the center of civic, political, commercial, social and tourist activity, but it stands on the grounds where conqueror Diego de Losada founded the city in 1567: the capital of Venezuela grew out from four corners. Public buildings like the Capitolio Nacional, the Catedral Metropolitana, the Foreign Office and the Palacio Municipal surround the square. But, the real meaning of Plaza Bolivar is found in its energy, which keeps Caracas alive.
ok..here's the deal.i was here and i loved it. if it were a person and he proposed to me, i would not take a second to think. i would say yes right away. it was the best place i had ever been to. i loved it loved it loved it.
After carefully planning a family trip for months we flew to los Roques but where dismayed to find out that the sailboat that we had contracted (Obsession) for 3 days was not on the island and no one knew its whereabouts.
To make matters worse there where no rooms available on the island of Grand Roque and we had nowhere to go since the last departing plane was full. Luckily we where able to find a smaller sailboat by paying a hefty cash price on the spot. Unfortunately it was not prepared to receive us (dirty, stale food) but at least we had a place to sleep.
The next day the original sailboat showed up. The owner of the boat did not even apologize. We had already paid for the whole 3 days and the obsession so we agreed with its owner that he would not charge us for the time that the sailboat had not been available, and that on the following Monday he would reimburse us. We decided to take the boat but once on board we noticed several things wrong, the radio and the GPS did not work, the boat was leaking gas, and there was an awful smell through out the cabin.
And although this was several weeks ago we still havent received our money back from the owner of the obsession.
Latter we even found out that the captain was not licensed.
I write this as a warning! There are many boats available in Grand Roque, avoid the Obsession and the company that represents them EXPLORE YACHTS TOUR.
