First of all, I don’t like most seafood restaurants because their fried seafood tastes so greasy. But my kids really do. So we tried Pier 51. WE LOVE THIS PLACE. The food was better than any seafood restaurant we have ever been to and we have eaten at all the local seafood places as well as the chains. I had the fried combo platter and it was an overly generous portion. The fish was light and flaky and the shrimp was crunchy and delicious. It was simply perfect. I asked my husband, who had worked in a Fish camp in high school why Pier 51’s seafood was so much better. He says that the key to the best seafood is to change the oil frequently so that must be what Pier 51 is doing. The kid’s portions were large also and my kids are big eaters. Also, the staff is friendly and attentive. It has a great family atmosphere. Last, the restaurant is spotless…including the restrooms. Give this place a try!
Went to eat at the Pineville Location for lunch. I was just opening. A large senior group had just been seated. I can say the Hostess and waitress was not but professional and ready to serve the 3 of us ( Me, my daughter and 9month old infant) The food was great. We both had a combo platter and the sweet potatoes was so good. The waitress even got a small plate for the wee one to have some finger food without having to request one. Can't wait to go back
Went to the one in Rock Hill. I checked the sanitation grades online, and the last two were good. The food was okay - basically it was like 99% of fish camps in the area. They all seem to serve exactly the same food with exactly the same ingredients (frozen fish, canned/bagged soup, etc). There were 5 of us and four of us had stomach issues the next day. Not very bad like a virus but a lot of did have to make repeated trips to the restroom - and most of us got something different.
This one was also not very busy either but it's in an isolated location (the former Capatain Steve's and it was also Lakehouse for a while).
