Siam Thai is the most authentic Thai restaurant in Billings, and along with Toi's in Helena, the best in the state. I spent a lot of time in Thailand, ate everything that fell on my plate, from the fare of street vendors in Bangkok to that served in grass huts in the Gulf of Thailand, and I'm here to tell you that you can't do better that Siam Thai. The restaurant is in a strip mall and the ambience is about as minimal (cliche) as you get, with portraits of the King and his wife on the wall, but you see those in every restaurant in Thailand too. The service is maybe a bit slow, as is the kitchen, so be warned! BUT the food! Man, the food is amazing! I have NEVER had a bad meal here from drunken noodles, rad na and Panang curry to the Massaman curry of Malaysia. The two basic desserts are mango with sticky rice and a Thai pudding with sticky rice--order both, you won't regret it. Even if you're too stufffed to eat another bite.
We believed a previous review and so had to try this place out.
Unfortunately we were underwelmed to say the least.
The atmosphere is casual and simple.
Service is pretty good.
The food is not exactly tradition Thai so will evaluate it on its own merit.
The visual appeal of the dishes is very good.
Taste of the food is okay to maybe good so long as you do not expect traditional Thai flavor.
Prices are slightly higher than typical Thai restraunts (far higher than other asian cruisine).
Portions are small. Thus value is very very poor at best.
Over all I still rate it at 3 since the ambiance is ok, service good and food is okay to good.
So if you have to satisfy your need for Thai food, this place will do in a pinch.
I tried for the first time when they opened it for the very first time, but I didn't order what I'd like. So I have not been to the restaurant for about two years until my friends dragged me to the place. My gosh~~~ I didn't just like it!!! I LOVED it!!! Now, I have to least go there for once a week to eat their drunken noodle and fresh spring rolls!!! Better try this place out, but I got to warn you~ I am Korean, and I even get my mouth burned ^0^ by their spicyness~ which i love it!!
