The most famous beach in the world, Copacabana has lost little of its mystique and charm over the years. Positioned in a wonderfully rich setting with a backdrop of sharp rising hills and a concrete jungle, this is the best place to feel the carioca spirit. Sit at one of the many restaurants along the beachfront to enjoy a batida or caipirinha, or take a stroll on the famous and often imitated Burle Marx designed sidewalks. In summertime, go early, as it may be hard to find a spot on the sand. Also, take note that the currents are deceptively strong. A perfect place to eat, drink, relax and people watch.
I like this beach, but to much people.
You can find better places taking tours to other places at Rio.
You can rent boats during the day and know many places and beaches. During the travel Boats stop on the sea and visitors can swim at the sea.
Under the sea you will find many kind of life , fishes of different colours and the like.
Awesome beach! Very beautiful, and of course beautiful Brazilian women! It's nice all around (weather if you are just walking along, sunbathing, etc). Got to love the coconut stands too!
Can't wait to go back!
like most people will say the brazilians are truly the friendliest people i have ever met,, copocabana is a very dirty beach in my opinion every time you want to cool of in the often polluted water you will find that if no one is watching your towel and top it wil be gone within the 5 minutes of being in the water,,, it is a haven for thieves and hookers
The beach is as beautiful in person as it is in the postcards. Beautiful views from all parts of the Copa. Great shopping bargains at the evening bazaar. Spent a lot of time on the Avenue, day and night. I was warned of the dangers of the Copa and Rio in general, never a moment of where I felt afraid or threatened. Loved every moment.
Very romantic settings along the Avenue on both sides (hotel side and the beach side).
Great place for strolling, relaxing and people watching.
Everyone in the world has heard about the Copacabana and if you're in Rio you are not going to avoid it are you? Nice very wide beach that connects to Ipanema to the south. There was some kind of greenish scum all along on the edge of the waterline when I was there....not sure whether it was pollution or some type of algae. I liked the coconut trees along the beach. On Sundays, they close off the ocean side of the avenue Atlantica to cards for pedestrian traffic...and a whole bunch of people take their Sunday morning walks seriously walking very briskly on the avenue.
Copacabana must be one of the world's most famous and beautiful beaches! Certain people who have heard of Copacabana might even know that Natasha Bedingfield's 'These Words' was filmed on the famous beach.
With some of the fanciest hotels (Le Meridien, Luxor, J.W Mariott) in the city, this beach is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. With it's many beachside stalls and markets you surely won't leave deprived of snacks, drinks and souvenirs. BEWARE: On national holidays when people in Rio De Janeiro don't work, the beach gets VERY crowded! Enjoy!
Arpoador is one of the best surfing beaches in the area, even at night, with clean, almost transparent water. Locals
come from all over to sunbathe on this small stretch of sand between Copacabana and Ipanema. It is also ...
This is actually the first mile of the sandy crescent known as Copacabana. Located between the Morro do Leme and
Avenida Princesa Isabel, this stretch is less touristy than its more famous cousin. Locals like to bring the family ...
