Avenida Rio Branco, Rio de Janeiro

Very close to Cinelândia, this avenue was modeled after an elegant Parisian boulevard when it was first built at the beginning of the 20th century. Few of the original buildings that once lined the street have survived. Take a walk down Rua Gonçalves Dias to see the colorful façades and architecture that remain. This is also a good place to stop for a bite to eat, as there are some good restaurants and shops nearby.
