Once home to the famous Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx, who designed the Parque do Aterro do Flamengo and many other important parks in Brazil and internationally, the Sitio is now a foundation where nature lovers can find a remarkable display of more than 3500 species of plants from all over the world. Among these are some rare specimens originally collected by the owner. The old farmhouse, a 17th-century chapel (where clavichord concerts take place) and the Burle Marx studio are all located within the estate.
