Marius, Rio de Janeiro

The salad/hors d'oeuvres/sushi bar offered little variety. The meat, nearly all roast beef, was gristly. (I spat most of it into napkins.) On my flight back to the US, my seat-mate, a Carioca, responded to my description of my Marius meal by saying "It's only for tourists now. All the big hotels send them there."

Very unique ambiance that is hard to describe. Ship Galley meets semi precious stone quarry. Ya that ought to confuse you. My wife had the meat lovers delight, I had the seafood. Think super well prepared fare in salad bar format. Salad means oysters, sushi, olives, etc. Then main course. Roving staff with cutting boards and knives bring you the surf or turf. Some pallets may find a few of the meats either too salty or too overdone (ask first and don't take it). In my case, the seafood was all prepared to my liking, highlights included several lobsters, fish, crab and shrimp. Bring your appetite, expect the food to be both plentiful and of high quality.

A superb atmosphere. The meat was on the whole succulent and there was no limit on how much you could eat. The waiters were attentive and fun. An experience not to be missed. The bizarre men's loo was an unusual in the extreme. We even showed it to the ladies in our party.

Marius is located right off the main strip of downtown Rio. The food is outstanding and the view is breathe taking. While I was living in Brazil and had friends and family visiting, I would take them to have dinner at Marius. They fell in love with the decor and left satisfied. Marius isn't just for people who love meat, they had a wonderful assortment of vegetables.

I have been to MANY Churrascarias and this is by far the best. They have an excellent salad bar as well as the usual meats. They also have excellent sea food, which is not common for all churrascarias. You will especially enjoy the patio!

My trips to Brazil are not complete unless I dine at Marius once or twice during my stay. The arrival experience is outstanding; very friendly staff, decor, food presentation and an outstanding wine list. A day on the beach, shopping and dinner at Marius....You will not find a better restuarant than Marius on the cost line....Obrigado.

I went to Marius while in Rio, 3 yrs ago, and I must say it was a truly grand gourmet experience! Everything, the beautifully arranged all-you-can eat bar, with all kinds of sea food, meat, various Brazilian specialties resting on hundreds of kilos of ice, main course(s) which the really nice and helpful staff keeps delivering to You freshly done, the wonderfully tasty (and let's don't forget - healthy) squeezed juices, I say everything there is worth a trip to Rio! I'd specially recommend the deserts - the Marius-made truffles are simply the best! The price spices things up a bit but it's really not that much - 130-160 R$ per person.

The hors d'oeuvres were tasty, beautifully presented and a huge choice. Avoid the temptation to pile your plate high as the meat was cooked to perfection, was absolutely delicious and kept coming! The beef was caved at the table and just melted in the mouth. We lost count of the different cuts of beef and had to admit defeat after the lamb steaks and rack of lamb, reluctantly turning down the rest of the meat offered. Unusual decor and amazing toilets! Worth every real!

i didnt like this place because it was the worst steak i have ever eaten!!!!! it was not juicy like they said it was gunna be.... unfortunatly for them i am a health inspecter and i did not like what i saw so they recieve a bad review and they will most likely be closed!!!!!

I first went to Marius 5 years ago and fell in love with the gorgeous food, quaint decor and good friendly service. I recommend this place to anyone who will listen and say it is the best Churrasco in Rio. BUT just recently it has become a victim of its own popularity, it is crowded, and although still a very good restaurant it has lost a little bit of the edge. I recently tried Porcao Rios which was fantastic, It was everything that Marius used to be and unfortunately I have a new restaurant to rave over now, Marius is still good though but as it is so close to Copacabana it is becoming a tourist restaurant rather than a great restaurant, Porcao Rios is only 5 minutes in a taxi and has the most fantastic views of Sugarloaf mountain (By the way there are many Porcao restaurants in Rio but only the one called Porcao Rios is better than Marius)
