This is how ordering works in Buenos Aires. First you sit down, the waiter will come give you some menus and bring you bottled water. Then study the wine list and what you will probably want to order for a starter. The waiters in Buenos Aires are never going to come to your table until you have closed your menu!!! If you look like you are deep in conversation they will not come either, remember this isn't the U.S. where everyone is in and out in one hour!! You also should order one thing at a time remember they always give you alot of food.. If you are an impatient person I recomend you go to a pizzeria...

A friend from Moscow was visiting so I thought this would be a nice introduction to Buenos Aires since I had read some wonderful reviews. We were seated promptly, served bread and our water glasses were filled and that was the last time anyone came near our table for the next half hour. After that point I went back to the hostess and asked to have our waiter sent over so we could order some wine. Another 15 minutes passed and still no one. I went back to the hostess and by this time was not in a good humor. I was used to a rather relaxed style of service in some places, but this was beyond relaxed. I told the hostess that for we had been ignored for 45 minutes and was there a problem. She promised to have the waiter come right over. He didn't and after another 10 minutes we left.
