Recently renovated and refashioned, this is one of the oldest established restaurants in the city, yet still one of the most popular. Set in the historic Ferry Building and overlooking the water, Cin Cin has high ceilings, granite, and luxurious table settings. There is a strong emphasis on the sea, with Italian and Asian flavours through pasta, risotto and noodles. Wood-fired pizzas are thrown in for good measure. Try the yellowfin tuna with warm sushi rice and spring onion, honey soy vinaigrette NZD29.50. The wine list is extensive.
We have dinned in numerous countries & hate the fact that our worst ever experience was in our own! On our visit back to Auckland we found Cin Cin's menu is now (didn't use to be) very basic, the food extremely ordinary & the prices far too expensive for what it is. The wine list fools you into thinking you're buying a bottle when in fact you're buying a glass (deceitful way of doing it) & we had to repeat ourselves to the waiter on far too many occasions due to his lack of grasp on the English language. Extremely disappointed as this used to be a great dinning experience & one of our favourtie restaurants when we lived there. Must have new owners & if so they need to be ashamed of themselves!
We stopped in late one night with the intent of grabbing a glass of wine or two and maybe an appetizer. This could, perhaps, be defined as the most fortuituos restaurant decision we ever made. The food was fantastic, the wait staff polite, professional, and helpful and the wine list amazing. One of the best dining experiences I've ever had.
