Far above the maddening crowds, Sydney Tower or AMP Tower has 360 degrees of Sydney's best views. It takes just 40 seconds for the double-decker lifts to reach the 304-meter summit. At 260 meters, the glass skywalk provides panoramic views of the city. This revolving vantage point was opened to public in 2005.
We went with our 2 teens on a bright, sunny, winter morning. Views were fabulous. We enjoyed taking photos and getting oriented to the city. OzTrek was a fun, high-tech travelogue experience. I would have gone back on our last night for a night view, but (silly me) I threw away our tickets. We got the Discovery tickets that let us in to Sydney Tower, Aquarium, and Wildlife World; we could have returned to each site if we'd had time (and I had kept the tickets.)
The AMP tower is a really trendy look out tower offering the best views of sydney and its harbour in combination with a wonderful fine dinning experience is just one the great treats the three decks of AMP tower have to offer apart from some really great shops.
Visited the tower in Oct 2003. Excellant all round. coming back for more 11th to 14th November 2005. Only prob we have is how to book a resavation from uk mainland! If you could tell us how that would be smashing.

Alright for 20 minutes while you take pictures but unless you want to eat at the cafe theres no reason to stay for long, making it fairly expensive. Also, pointless on rainy days as you may not see that far. Having said that, you dont need climbing gear like the bridgeclimb, you can take your own camera and its higher than the crappy bridge pylon or other places. Also has its own souvenir shop but theres millions of them in sydney anyway.
