Description

The Alta Vista Terrace, is a glimpse of the pompous and intricate row house style of London. It was built in the year 1904. This street represents one of the last real estate developments of Samuel Eberly Gross, who has been responsible for the construction of thousands of houses in the Chicago area. Sometimes called "A Street of Forty Doors," Alta Vista Terrace displays a lively variety of architectural styles and detail. The distinctly human scale creates a unity and harmony rarely found elsewhere in the city.

Gorgeous street!!!!

This street took me away from the cares and stress of daily life and gave me a sense of peace, tranquility, and charm. If I didn't know better, I would swear I was in an upscale London district. The people who get to live on this street must treasure it! I can't imagine a better place to live -- the high-class historic homes tucked away in a tranquil setting, but within walking distance to it all. I will definitely seek this street out again when I'm back in Chicago. I bet it's beautiful in all the seasons.
