John Harvard Statue
The Statue of John Harvard is embroiled with controversies. Located at the prestigious Harvard University, the statue has been a hot topic of discussion for a very long time. There are three lies connected with this statue. Firstly, as there are no John Harvard portraits available, it is believed that the French artist used one of his students as a model. Secondly, Harvard college was not founded by John Harvard and thirdly, the college was found in 1636 but not the popular 1638 by a vote of the great and the general court of the Massachusetts bay colony. In fact the statue is colloquially known as the The Statue of Three Lies. It is also believed that touching the shoes of the statue brings good luck.
