Jamestown Settlement

Description

A recreation of one of the earliest European settlements in the Americas, the Jamestown Settlement consists of replicas of boats, buildings, and villages. This museum features galleries and videos about life as it was then and it manages to make history engaging for both adults and kids. Climb aboard the three boats which are replicas of those used to sail from England. Explore the Powhatan village to learn about the Native Americans of the area, and see the colonists' fort. Best of all, actors replicate the every day lives of the colonists wearing period costumes, doing chores, and acting just like the colonists of the day. A truly fun way to learn about history!

WOW!!! So much to see and experience!
By ,
Don't under estimate the amount of time you need to experience all that is to be scene at the entire Jamestown sites!!! Galleries are very interesting with movies, displays with lots to read to explain what your are seeing! The rebuilt boats, fort and indian village really drive home the point and put you into the experience! Great time!

The best attraction in Williamsburg
By ,
We were three generations and all of us enjoyed this attraction over everything else in Williamsburg. The actors kept us entertained and were a wealth of information. The indoor exhibit was like a Smithsonian museum. It is truly one of the best attractions we have ever experienced. We will go back again.

I'll go there in spite of the problems we had
By ,
The picnic/pullover areas area on Colonial Pkwy were a 'hookup' areas for men. No one bothered us but be aware of it. The Park Service knows about it but says they can't do anything partly due to manpower issues. In the Jamestown center where you pay to go in, before we paid to get in we were standing at the turnstile trying to decide if we wanted to pay to go in. I picked up one of the maps to the settlement and the older lady working the turnstile snatched the map from me and told me they were for paying customers only. She then moved the maps to the other side of her counter and out of my reach. We still call it a map snatching good time. I also had to yell at some brats that were kicking the ducks.

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By ,
There are alot of things to do in this part of Jamestowne. You can see replicas of boats and other things the first colonist used. Just down the street you can see the real ruins of America's birthplace and artifacts left behind. Right now in Sept. of 2009 there is a dig sight where scientists are finding things that haven't been seen for hundreds of years! You have to see, at least once in your life, this wonderful place Pocahontas actually saw. The pricing is reasonable. Kids 15 and under are free. Adults are about ten bucks depending on which building you go into.
