Kinokuniya Bookstores

Description

As part of the Kinokuniya Japanese Bookstore chain, it is no surprise that a large proportion of the store is devoted to Japanese titles and glossy mags. This stylish bookstore has one of the largest selections of Graphic design books in the country as well as a comprehensive selection of photography, art, and architecture. A must for the visually stimulated. Staff are friendly and well informed. If you cannot see what you want, then ask!

Shocking customer service!
By fusksi, 11/25/11
I have been here before and found it pricey, but I think that is only to be expected given its large selection and imported items. So I'd not really recommend it for students, unless you need a specialty item. They do do stationary, but you can find similar items in specialised stationary stores that are less expensive. So overall I was sort of mixed about it, it's definately fun to browse, but some of the prices are off-putting. Then I recieved the most horrible customer service from some awful young girl at the checkout. I've honestly never experienced someone so rude I was almost left in tears - and I can't complain about it because the name of the reciept is a common mens name! so I figure she must me new or in training or whatever, but if Kinokuniya employs people like this then I don't see how it could get better......especially if they start employing heaps of people over christmas. I'd definately stay away in their busier times now, because you're going to get untrained staff who probably only care about having a casual job!

My Personal Favourite!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/13/09
The sheer size of the place is one of the best parts. It has a great selection of titles in every section and on every subject, it's impossible to get bored. The range of graphic novels, manga, and photobooks are my favourites, nowhere else can I find such a great range, and if I can't find something, there's computers and friendly staff to help out, or even order in books. Downside is it's a little pricey in some sections, but for general books there are often sales and three-book deals that make it worthwhile.

This place is amazing and the size of the store was huge! I find the service great but so many people there it was good to see fellow readers! I think it's good if you wanted to have a lil sneak peek as some books are avaliable to read.... I absolutely love the place.. a must to see if you love books as much as me!! ^^

Good but Expensive
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/16/05
This store has a great range of books, but sadly is much more expensive than some of the other chains (Angus & Robertson, Dymocks etc.) Worth a look, but withold the purchases if possible.
