City Extra Circular Quay, Sydney

City Extra has survived the recent re-construction of the Quay and is still open 24 hours a day, seven days a week -good news for loyal patrons who have been coming here since their heady halcyon days of dancing the night away at the clubs and pubs in and around the CBD and The Rocks. Some things never change. This is a scene out of Breakfast at Tiffany's; glamour girls and boys dressed in their finery, tucking into coffee and a Danish as dawn breaks over Sydney's deserted streets. Newly coupled couples cosy up in the big, comfy booths, and tourists clamour for the outdoor Quay-side tables. The upstairs section is often closed but offers one of the best views of the harbour and bridge. The newsprint-style menu has not changed but the prices have rationalised - standard nachos, gourmet burger or pasta meal will set you back around AUD10-AUD15. The quality has definitely improved and the service is fast and friendly no matter the hour.
