Dalian Forest Zoo, Dalian

With the exception of the butterfly collection, the former zoo was far from impressive, however, the zoo's newly established wild animal feeding area now draws tourists in droves. Built on Bai Yun Mountain, this one-square-kilometer area offers an unrestrained roaming area for animals, while tourists can observe the animals from the safety of a bus. In the walking section, kids can take photos with spotted deer and pet kangaroos. Especially worth mentioning are the zoo's more than 140 rare species introduced from as far away as South Africa. Visitors should also take the cable car to enjoy great views of the whole zoo.
