Fremantle Prison
Description
Some say ghosts haunt Fremantle Prison - possibly the 43 men and one woman hung on the site. Built by convicts in the 1850s, it operated as a maximum-security prison until 1991 with the last hanging in 1964. The limestone buildings set an eerie scene for both day and night tours. The Candlelight Tours (Wednesday and Friday nights) are a treat. However, the favourite is the annual Halloween Tour. Facilities include cafe, souvenir shop, ice cream parlour and a photographer.
Have been here a few times... Day and Night... Day time tours are interesting and u learn alot but can get abit boring... Night times however are fun yet creepy... Beware night tours thou... The guides will jump out from cells and try anything to make you jump or scream haha.. Especially when going into the building that held prisioners going to the gallows.. Rest easy thou if u are pregnant, elderly or have small children they will quietly warn you so u can move outta the way so they can scare the rest of the unaware visitors... The gallows are creepy day and night... Remember the last person hanged in WA was Eric Edgar Cook in 1964 (I think that yr is right)
Oh they also use to do overnight stays for the 40 hr famine I doubt anyone actually slept thou be abit spooky...
VERY INTERESTING AND AMAZING PLACE TO VISIT. TOUR GUIDE EXCELLENT. THE ONLY THING IS THAT IT IS A BIT EXPENSIVE FOR ONLY A 45 MINUTE VISIT AND AT LEAST 20 PEOPLE PER GUIDE.
I think the prison a short while ago and i loved it. My tour guide who was called Terry was fantastic can you please tell him that brett lee loved his tour.
Excellent behind the scences knowledge from the tour guides.A really good couple of hours of your time well spent Congratulations to the prison and tour guides Thankyou
I thought this is a good place for a tour beacuse you get to learn the stories about people that have been to jail and why we are so lucky. you get to hear stories about people that have been in jail and see what they lived in. their are also night tours and underground tours.
