Club Tahar Haddad, Tunis

This cultural club is located in the former stalls of the Dar Lasram palace, in a calm alley and is one of Medina's best surprises. The vaulted ceilings and the massive pillars that support them create an impressive setting. This cultural center holds many artistic and cultural activities: painting and sculpture workshops and exhibits, cultural debates and conferences, concerts of classical Arabic and Occidental music or of contemporary music (in February), theater, films, and a library. Artists and students, along with tourists gather here also to sip tea while enjoying the unique atmosphere of the place. Entry is free. N.L.
