Il Ciao Ristorante Pizzeria
This restaurant is hidden gem in the suburb of Applecross. Tucked away next to the post office, the food is terrific. The setting is relaxed, despite its location on the busy Canning Highway. The dining area includes both an indoor and undercover outdoor eating area. Do not miss the pizzas, superbly toasted in a wood-fired oven. Try the quattro stagioni with tomato, mozzarella, artichoke, grilled capsicum, eggplant and mushrooms (AUD11). The penne vodka (AUD9) is also very good.
Il Ciao is a favourite with us. It is a bustling Italian restaurant with the large pizza oven in the corner, seating inside and a covered 'outside' area complete with fire. Plenty of Italian posters and picture on the wall - fabulous food and service. BYO. You can't book at this restaurant, so we usually rock up about 9pm and never have any trouble getting a table. Even if you go earlier and have to wait - the staff are quite magical about conjuring up a table as soon as it becomes available. Our kids love this plate too and the menu is extensive enough with pizzas, pasta, fabulous grilled squid and enough chicken/meat dishes for everyone to be happy. My fussy daughters loves their lasagne!
