Blue Duck Cafe, Perth

I have been a long-time patron of the Blue Duck, but it seems that each time I go the service gets progressively worse and the food appears to be following suit. Last night we had a reservation for 4 for 7pm. It took a while for us to be seated. Another long wait before anyone came to take our drink orders. The food, when it came, was plonked down on the table with a crash and as much care as you would expect in a McSubway style place. Tastes and flavours of the foods were OK, but fall way short of being mouth wateringly delicious. My chicken salad was ghastly. Not sure why you put Kalamata olives with thick green basil dressing and lumpy slices of avocado - but apparently you do! In between the waiting and constant prompting of the waiter to get any service, and the very "average"ness of the food, I think it's time to take the "Duck" off the menu! For $50 plus a head (no alcohol included) I know of a lot better places where you will get a stunning meal, excellent serivce and less drag on your wallet!

After enjoying lunch last Sunday with four friends I can only say that we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It's some time since I have been to the Blue Duck and despite the two previous reviews found everything to be satifactory. Obviously, since a change in ownership all problems have been addressed. Our wait staff were attentive, especially a young Canadian, who was delightful. I hope to be back soon. Gail - Floreat.

I met with friends for dinner here last week. The food was excellant. and the service efficient and friendly. Size of meals was more than adequate and not overpriced. You should try the appetiser of soft shell crabs with dips and for dessert the best tiramasu I have ever tasted. (home made) I also love the outlook of the beach under lights. Can't wait to go back!

I went with my daughter, her boyfriend and his parents for lunch on the long weekend in March (Monday 7th March) and was bitterly disappointed. The restaurant was very hot due to the lack of ventilation, the staff did not greet us in a pleasing manner. The staff who served us were supposedly dressed in white polo shirts which were anything but white. There must have been a sample of every dish they had served or cooked, on their shirts. They were utterly filthy. There was no other word for the state of their clothing - a real turn off straight away. We then had to wait for service while two of the waitresses were holding an intimate conversation and hugging each other. When we asked about the service, we were informed by the waitress that she wasn't going to have a job after Wednesday as a new owner was taking over, so obviously she didn't care very much. The floor of the restaurant was grotty also. I was very disappointed particularly as I had heard that it was an upmarket cafe. No I won't be going back.
