Disappointed 'Foodie'
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/15/10
Beautiful place in a great setting - a bit olde-worldy.
My experience dates back 2 years; I was invited for my birthday, so had to grin and bear the extra small dishes; I had venison which was cooked to perfection, but it was basically three mouths full like the other dishes. I had the feeling portions are carefully weighed and calories counted; not a good feeling when dining.
There was olive oil on the table which was rancid.
Despite the high prices, food choices were limited. Service was nice.
However, people obviously enjoyed the ambience and some happy couples were leaving at the same time as us; I was happy too, how could I be otherwise, after spending enough money that would keep a family of 3 in food for a week.
I am writing this late review, because everytime I as much as whisper that my dining experience at the Loose Box was disappointing, my friends and acquaintances howl me down; so the restaurant obviously has its faithful customers.
To sum up: If you want a good dining experience in a lovely setting, and you don't mind spending money on good to great but minimalistic food, this is the place for you.
