This complex is a man-made body of water was designed for canoeing, kayaking and marathon swimming competitions at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. The total building area, including the deluxe boathouse and the water course itself, occupies a space of a total of 31,850 square meters (342,830 square feet), making it the largest venue of any in the 2008 Olympic Games. It features both flatwater and slalom courses, as well as two boathouses. This amazing feat went under construction in 2005, and after the Olympics it will be converted into a luxury resort centered on water-based activities.
