Brighton Beach, Melbourne

Brighton Beach is famous for one of Melbourne's most picturesque sights, the colorful row of "bathing boxes" that runs along its shore. These vividly decorated little sheds are basically privately owned changing rooms, but can sell for as much as a house in some parts of the city! It is obvious, however, why those with the spare cash value this beach so highly. The sand is clean, the water blue and shallow and there is an appealing view of the city skyline. The beach is patrolled by surf lifesavers. Facilities include toilets, showers and all day parking.
