Labassa may not boast the stately grounds of Rippon Lea or Como House , two other stately Melbourne homes open to the public, but its interior is matched by none. Built in 1890, it boasts richly decorated rooms with heavy, handcrafted wallpaper, sweeping staircases, stained glass windows and lavishly painted trompe little ceilings. The place is open on the third Sunday of every month or by appointment.
