Château de Brie-Comte-Robert, Brie-Comte-Robert

Constructed near the end of the 12th century, Château de Brie-Comte-Robert stands today as a symbol of French perseverance. Its history spanning nearly 800 years, Château de Brie-Comte-Robert has changed hands quite a few times. In the early 20th century, the Château was bought by the city in an effort to preserve it, and undo the damage of previous owners who had destroyed towers, built new homes, and renovated much of the original structure. The Château also offers a permanent exposition of archaeological artifacts that have been found during excavation and renovation. Located 25 miles SE of Paris, Château de Brie-Comte-Robert is a must-see for anyone interested in French history. Entry is free.
