Captain Kurle's Reef
Description
During January and February, when the waters off Jupiter are still a balmy 70-78 Farenheit, a unique courting ceremony takes place at this reef. Hundreds of Lemon Sharks, a yellow-brown species which grows up to nine feet long, gather to pick their mates, a phenomenon that has been observed nowhere else in the world. The sharks are far more interested in each other than a piece of your leg, so forget any fear and drift overhead to watch the undersea ritual. Other interesting sites in the area include Hole in the Wall and Loggerhead Reef , as well as the local wreck diving sites .
