Spaghetteria Ristorante (La)
Some years ago, brothers Jamil and Jack took over the location previously occupied by the Da Salvatore crew (famous for introducing those pizzas by the metre). The pair has aimed to maintain the level of authentic Italian cuisine, also adding a few contemporary Italian dishes to the menu. Diners can enjoy listening to the live music ensemble in the background performing those old Gershwin, Cole Porter and Italian favorites.
We visited La Spaghetteria on Jan 2, 2007. "We" were me, my wife and two nine year old daughters. Food ok, but one full glas of white wine dropped over one of my daughters didn't result in more than a verbal excuse by the waitress. Management didn't say anything. Later another waiter mananaged to destroy my VISA-card, why I naturally got upset. Could happen to anyone was the response from the manager who also said it was not a big problem. You can get a new one tomorrow. From planet did he come? Now, it proves that the restaurant has charged me twice for the food.
In short: beware of La Spaghetteria in Melbourne (Lygon Street). There are plenty of others to choose from.
