Description
The Baptistakirkjan is located in Njarðvík, not far from the US Naval base in Keflavík. That is no coincidence. There was no tradition of Baptism before the arrival of the US Navy during World War II, and the church was established by American soldiers and their relatives. Several Icelanders have joined the congregation, most of them living close to the Naval base. The church building is not worth visiting for its architecture, but people of the same religious persuasion have the opportunity to attend ceremonies in English.
